| Robert Elliott received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UCLA in 1978. He has taught at the University of Toledo since 1978, where he is Professor of Psychology and Director of the Center for the Study of Experiential Psychotherapy. He has served as President of the Society for Psychotherapy Research and as co-editor of the journal Psychotherapy Research. He is co-author of Facilitating emotional change (1993, with Leslie Greenberg and Laura Rice), Research methods in clinical psychology (2nd ed., 2002, with Chris Barker and Nancy Pistrang), and the forthcoming Learning process-experiential psychotherapy (with Jeanne Watson, Rhonda Goldman and Les Greenberg). He is currently (2002) on the Board of the World Association for Person-Centered Counseling and Psychotherapy. | Dave Mearns is Professor of Counselling and Director of the Counselling Unit at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. He has authored or co-authored six books, including Person-Centred Counselling Training and Person-Centred Therapy Today (with Brian Thorne). His development work seeks to make counselling in Scotland widely available and free at the point of service. | Peter F. Schmid is Associate Professor at the University of Graz, Styria; person-centered psychotherapist, practical theologian and pastoral psychologist; founder of person-centered training and further training in Austria, co-director of the Academy for Counseling and Psychotherapy of the Austrian Institute for Person-Centered Studies (IPS of APG) and Board Member of both, the World Association (WAPCEPC) and the European Network (NEAPCEPC). He has authored and co-authored eleven books and numerous articles about the anthropology and further developments of the Person-Centered Approach in German and English. He is one of the Editors of the international person-centered and experiential journal (in the German language) PERSON. | William B. Stiles is a professor of clinical psychology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, USA. He received his Ph.D. from UCLA in 1972. He taught previously at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and he has held visiting positions at the Universities of Sheffield and Leeds in England, at Massey University in New Zealand, and at the University of Joensuu in Finland. He is the author of Describing Talk: A Taxonomy of Verbal Response Modes. He has been president of the Society for Psychotherapy Research and North American Editor of Psychotherapy Research.
